As we all know, when Matt Groening developed the Simpsons, art critics everywhere hailed his new style as the pinnacle of humanity's artistic achievement. So great was Groening, that other art styles needed to be redone to conform with His superior vision.
So, I decided to draw a whole gallery of images created in Aviary's Phoenix, showing what famous works of art would look like had they been created by Matt Groening.

I tried to post it, but it's not coming through. Probably to block link spammers on this blog (and with good reason) But I can do it another way I think: The newspaper is called de Standaard, so that is also the name of the site, with .be as extension. And they put a link to this blog in the 'En nu even ernstig' devision of the site. Translated 'and now for something serious'.

Meowza's talent is undeniable, but is Webtop software REALLY going to catch on? I am awed by the amount of work, and the spirit of universal access this upcoming generation of "Webtop" based software implies. However, i am not at all convinced that the great general public will really buy into it. As good as it is: 1. will it allow graphics tablets? 2. Will it access keyboard shortcuts? Finally, i fear that it is NOT in human nature to use software at a remote site. It seems obvious to me that everyone would prefer to own their software. It also raises questions of security, when creating corporate work. I am sorry, but i feel the whole Webtop idea is just a developer's fantsy, something for developers to er, develop, thus providing work. I realise that many BIG corporations, including Google & even Microtosh are 'committed' to the webtop philosophy, but i'd put money on it all fizzling out, like betamax and like DAB radio. At best it will provide tasters for new generations of artists, but those who find it cool and awesome (like they do) will then rush out and buy photoshop, or download GIMP or Inkscape. But Meowza is a talented son of a gun, no mistake.

Hey Meowza, These are amusing but nor particularly enriching.. I believe that these are enjoyable in their original forms only.. except for Andy Warhol's Marilyn Monroe which suits the "Simpsoning" to a certain extent, others are quite disturbing with their clash of styles.. I would particularly like to mention that Vincent Van Gogh's Self Portrait reflects the clash of styles the most with the backdrop of brush strokes being used with the cartoon style of the figure.. These might be even offensive to serious art lovers and could suffice for wacky tee shirts only.. :-(
