I wanted to showcase some of our talented Artist in Residence's work for our upcoming marketing campaign. This is the artwork and some rough text layout for the part of the campaign for Raven, our vector editor.
This particular ad is inspired by and parodies Marcos Chin's stunning work for Lava Life.
Our artist is Brent Koby, otherwise known affectionately to Worth1000 users as Meowza.
We are creating an ad for almost every tool on our list.
All Brent's artwork created for the campaign will be purchasable on mounted posters through our market once we launch (with or without ad text). We created everything to be stand-alone beautiful on their own.
Another example of an ad was already displayed on our blog (the artwork will also be used in our upcoming book).
PS. I've been told by some people they want this blog to focus on the tool development alone, but I have to disagree. Our marketing is just as important as the tools they help promote. It doesn't matter how great our tools work - without an attractive message drawing people in, nobody will ever want to try them in the first place. If you agree and would like to see more artwork for our upcoming campaigns, let me know in the comments below.
Update! Even our error messages were done by Brent. For instance, here is a nice easter egg for those of you who encounter any errors on our site.
Next Post: Changes to our blog url structure left us with egg...

How do you get these programs? Is there a fee? How do you get a user name and password? They still haven't e-mailed me back

Hi David. There is no fee for any of the programs. Just sign up and please be patient. You'll receive an invitation soon, depending on which tool you signed up for and how many people we are currently letting in to try it out.

as much as i long for more detailed info about the tool sets (detailed specs etc) I'm absolutely loving seeing the marketing campaign images... as a creative director myself, i have to agree that it's important for people to see this...especially if the images are being created using the aviary tools... awesome work guys...well done indeed... cheers Tyson

Love the images!! But it would be great to get an update about the development once in a while. And some tech talk about the app would also be great.

Good deal, mofle. I was planning on development update on Phoenix shortly, so you'll have your wish. What kind of tech talk would you specifically like to know?
Posted by mofle on 2007-10-23 16:32:15
Some inside pictures would be great. And some stuff about how it was developing real application using the Flex platform. Why you chose Flex over a native method like C . What's the ups and downs working with Flex. How the development is going. Some info about the team. Even though i don't know Flex i love reading about dev and tech. I think you guys got something here, and I'm really looking forward trying it out.

You got it! That should be a lot of fun to write up. In the mean time, here's another great piece of Meowzart: Our error message.

I like seeing the pictures. As a visual person, I feel that the best way to communicate what a visual tool can do is by showing it in action!

Hi there! I am loving Phoenix! My images need to be scaleable, so I've been on the hunt for a new vector editing program - what is the timeline on the Raven beta? Along those lines, since I work with digital media (web, video, print) - I'm eager to explore how your other tools work - as stand-alones as well as an integrated product suite. Will beta users be able to play with multiple products (specifically, Hummingbird, Myna, Roc, Starling & Owl!)? Thanks!

I digg your artist in residence. I am considering being his house-slave in residence. Can the aviary team support this plan?
