We've been getting a ton of press at Worth1000 over our Ultimate Celebrity contest, where the goal is to take the best physical features of multiple celebrities and merge them into one super celebrity. One of the requests we got from a prominent newspaper was to prove that Aviary (a web app) could really be used to create an ultimate celebrity. Piece of cake.
This time around Aviary's resident plastic surgeon Meowza performs illegal skin grafts on Catherine Zeta-Jones, Keira Knightly, Angelina Jolie and Charlize Theron, creating the beautiful Catheinize Zightly-Jeliens. I hope his malpractice insurance is paid up.

This work made heavy use of painting, blending and layering effects.

Excellent use of Phoenix. It's just too bad that when you mix up the most beautiful ladies in the world you end up with a bland Charlize, more or less.
Posted by JC on 2008-03-06 02:35:45
That was pathetic. You made one ugly woman. There was a similar demo by talented people where they created a beautiful woman from scratch. All you did was schlep some body parts together in a meaningless fashion. You didn't combine all their noses into one prettier one, you just cut and pasted, like some retarded Mr. Potatoe man. This is some of the worst work ever. Seriously, get a new line of work.

What tool was used in PS after the nose, or eyes were applied? Blend?
Posted by Slav on 2008-03-06 03:30:20
Good job, but you're forgetting the fact that attractiveness is correlated with symmetry. This ultimate celebrity lacks it.
Posted by Mark on 2008-03-06 04:05:06
Mmmm Angilina Jolie alone looks better than the combo one and all of the other celebrities combined so you shoulda just had a picture of Angilina Jolie.

Is it just me or does this mean that Kristanna Loken is the perfect celebrity? As the CG effort looks just like her.

ends up looking like a blonde angelina jolie with semi-crooked lips. still interesting though.

That's one hell of an amazing software, but the final outcome is sort of erm, ugly?
Posted by Mars on 2008-03-06 06:51:51
Definitely not an example of synergy, each of the parts are better looking then the sum. This assumes that perfection is a slightly anorexic blonde chick...but this is America so maybe this is perfection.

Wow, so much angst... I don't think that ultimate celebrity is attractive, but that's so cool that Aviary can do all that. :D

WoW JC, someone needs a hug or something, LOL. Stop making Americans look so angry for the dumbest reasons. :x

Screwed the eyes up bad. None of those girls have those eyes.

Very un-shagadelic, baby. The three floozies are each much better than that horrific amalgamation.

Eww :D! Maybe you should try more .... but you did good job trying :)

The eyes are way too high up and the mouth is weird too. Ugly !!!!

Hmm, I feel bad moderating comments that aren't spam - but some of these are just purely negative about the artwork for no real purpose than to troll. :)

Is it possible to get a version of the video that's more high-res and 'slowed down' to real time? I would love to use this as an example/tutorial on using Phoenix as you quickly grabbed a lot of tools and used them. The end-product is nice but I would like to enjoy the process of what you did more and I can't see it all.
As for the complainers about the look of the new girl... Guys (I assume) come on.. that girl is, in fact, very pretty especially considering she was created quickly with 'random' source images with different size/angles/aspect ratios and coloring. Even Doctor Frankenstein was more selective and he cheated and used the whole head when creating his 'bride'! I think it was a great demo of Phoenix and the capabilities it offers compared with PhotoShop and the picture was very nice. I would be really happy to have your creation as my date for dinner.. but that would be awkward since I'd have to carry all the conversation. :)

i'd more like to see an average of those faces rather than seeing each womens features added to a single face
Posted by dagger on 2008-03-06 14:42:29
this doesnt work. these women are beautiful because all of their features work together, so you cant just take the best feature of each and throw them together to make some super hot chick. it is just going to make some weird looking chick (as it did) because the features dont work together.

She's my new virtual girlfriend (I have 230, but she's now in the top 5).

Hmm, I like Charlize more the way before...
Great tool though! Cheers!

Fantastic Blend, however she didn't turn out to be very attractive did she? lol

catherine zeta-jones' lips were taken over angelina's?! and kiera's nose was tweaked so much it ended up not even looking like the original anymore...pretty good photoshop skills but bad choices :(
Posted by anonymous on 2008-03-07 02:46:59
*excuse me, not "photoshop skills" as i said above, but i suppose "photo manipulation skills" will do :)

Jepp, that's what I've always said; Kylie Minogue has the worlds most perfect face....
Posted by thatwastheworstdemoever on 2008-03-16 13:49:05
Looks horrible.
Nose looks stupid, mouth doesn't fit right, and she has gremlin/lemur eyes. Nasty.
You basically made one composite picture that looks worse than all three of the originals. What a waste of people's time that was.
Posted by Lauren Washington on 2008-06-30 13:44:51
Weird! I think 60 percent of people who get plastic surgey looked better off before they got it.

Mario just introduced a cool Andy Warhol style peacock composition against this image: http://a.viary.com/imagedetail?fguid=a9053a4c-3c22-102b-844c-0030488e168c#6647 http://a.viary.com/imagedetail?fguid=b8658002-3c2a-102b-844c-0030488e168c Awesome!
