So now that I know what I'm doing a little more, I am curious why you chose to use the auto-painter hub where you did, instead of just tiling it. Was it just to play with the auto-painter, or did it do something different that I just didn't notice?

I love this one a lot, but I have a soft spot for steampunk things. It's awesome.

Yeah I'm kinda partial to Steampunk stuff as well. So in this file I was experimenting with the Autopainter hub's brush indexer.I based this file off of Mario's wooden mesh file but I wanted to see how difficult it would be to set-up an alternating indexed brush pattern. I could have done this will tiler but I am a glutton for punishment.

If I had my way, I'd steampunk my whole house and pretend I was some kind of Gatsby-era bajillionaire with a zeppelin parked out back.

Autopainter confuses me. I read your tutorial but I think I need to dig into the basics a little more before it really clicks. The comment about it working like a UV map in 3D made some sense to me. In a UV map the color channels designate different planes in the final object. But even that still makes my eyes glaze over, after a year of actively using UV maps. I'll keep plugging.

Autopainter has so many features that you could write fifty tutorials and still not be able to explain everything that it can do. Maybe I'll write a few basic tutorials on the practical uses. It will be my project for this week.
