Increase or decrease exposure in selected areas

Purpose
The dodge and burn tool can be used to increase or decrease the exposure in certain areas. Dodge will lighten an area, and Burn will darken it.

Location in Phoenix
The dodge and burn tool is located ninth in the Phoenix toolbar, behind the smudge tool.

How to Use
Just set your brush options and then paint over the area you wish to modify.

Options

Brush
Choose a shape for your brush. (Custom brush support coming soon.)

Type
Use Burn to decrease exposure (darken).
Use Dodge to increase exposure (lighten).

Range
Set the range so your brush only changes the shadows, midtones or highlights of an area.

Exposure
Set the intensity of your changes here.

Size
Choose a brush size from 1-100.

Hardness
Set the hardness of your brush from 1-100. Higher numbers will result in a harder brush and sharper edges.

Preview
Choose whether or not to preview brush trail

Scattered
Scatter brush marks or maintain a straight line

Tiled
Tile brush marks or maintain a straight line

Smooth Trails
Keep trails smooth or follow cursor trail directly
