Parrot-Squirrel thing you say?

Well, first I'd find sources that were pretty similar in perspective. Or ones that'd make sense when they're blended together anyways.
I used these two cause of the relative similarity in direction and lighting:

I set the parrot onto a layer above the squirrel, then set it's alpha to 50% temporarily.
Then, using the Move tool, I placed the parrot head over the squirrel where it would fit best. This is why setting the alpha to 50% for now is good, so you can see the squirrel below while situating the parrot.

Using a very, very soft eraser, (0 Hardness), I erased the edges to begin blending the two animals together.

Now I could've either re-colored the parrot head to match the brownish-gray squirrel body, or vice versa.
I colored the squirrel body instead, 'cause it'd make for a much more vivid image.
I did this by sampling some of the parrot's blue color using the eye Dropper tool.
Then I colored in the squirrel body with a 100% alpha brush.

Then I set that layer's blend mode to "Overlay", then colored in a yellow stripe since his head also has yellow running through it. Then set that layer to Overlay as well.

Then, to complete the blend, I drew in joining fur and stripes with a very small brush.

And finally, using the Clone Stamp tool, I shift-clicked a clean area of the background, then painted over any remnants of the squirrel which may have still been showing from behind the parrot head.

And there we have it, one Parrot - Squirrel thing.

Creating abominations against the animal kingdom is fun!
Happy abominating!

Under the layers pallet there are some buttons. Move your mouse over them for a description, and sure enough you will see "New Layer".

Great Tut again Meowza...

Sorry, I shouldve mentioned.
Create a brand new layer, and do your coloring on that layer. Don't color directly on the squirrel head's layer.

Here's another. The new disease is called Pigeonheadosis. Symptoms are the growth of feathers on your head, a beak, cooing, and bobbing your head when you walk.
